Meet the Pacer: Pooja Jain

Pooja had started her running career with the 10K fun run with friends in the year 2014, conducted by Tata Steel Kolkata. “ Rahul inspired me to join the run.”, says Pooja. Her husband Rahul Jain himself being a marathon runner inspired her to motivate herself further. Apart from running marathons, she has a diploma in psychological counseling.

During her participation in Airtel Run For Education Marathon, last year, she was determined enough to complete the 21Km run in 2 hours 17 minutes and ran the entire track with an average speed of 6.7 km/hr. This year, she is running as a pacer in the fourth edition of Airtel Run For Education with pace time 2 hours 45 minutes for 21Km.

“This drive is a very good step taken forward to educate the underprivileged children of our society.”, she added, “I tell my friends to join the run too”. She completed her first half marathon in the month of March 2016 completing her track in 2 hours 32 minutes. And has also participated in Swim a Mile held at CSC on 15th August, 2017.Her personal best is 2 hours 17 minutes.

Last year, she ran more than 8 Half Marathons which included Standard Chartered Kuala Lumpur, Standard Chartered Singapore as well as Standard Chartered Mumbai. She secured the first position in the BRC 10K run and in IDBI Kolkata, her first full marathon in January 2017. Since then she has successfully completed full marathons:- The Prague Marathon and The Gold Coast Marathon.

At the very first edition of the Pinkathon, she was elected as the brand ambassador. She will be running Warsaw full marathon in Poland on 24th September,2017.Currently,  training herself for the Olympic Triathlon which is the combination of Cycling, Racing and Swimming which will be held in Hyderabad later this year and also for the Goa River Marathon. She is also training some students of Dakshini Prakash, NGO, for 5Km run and they are going to participate in the upcoming events soon.

Pooja has a been a wonderful participant for our drive running for a noble cause lending us her helping hand, setting herself as an example what anyone can achieve if there is determination. Her willingness to make our society a better place and take part in our event will surely encourage others too.
